Darron Childs, Principal

Darron founded the Practice in 2002, based on a simple philosophy

  • Making the complex easy to understand
  • Providing a single point of contact
  • Great service and high value

Darron specialises in wealth creation and protection strategies, particularly when advice regarding investment portfolios, advanced tax planning and Inheritance Tax (IHT) mitigation is required or is necessary.

Darron's work with Charities and Trustees goes back many years and at times has merged into his life outside of work. Darron recently celebrated 25 years as a trusted financial consultant and celebrates 15 years association with St. James's Place in 2017. Outside of work Darron enjoys writing and has authored a number of books, one of which is award winning. His latest book is 'The Last Baronets'

Michael Jones, Senior Wealth Management Consultant

Michael Jones joined the Practice in 2015 after a long and successful career with the NatWest Bank.

Michael is very experienced with both individual and business clients and his appointment not only adds a wealth and breadth of experience but also strengthens the advice and consultancy team. Outside of work Michael is both an avid golfer and cricket fan.



Angela Davy-Makwana, Wealth Management Consultant

Angela joined the Practice in 2017 from HSBC Premier, having previously worked in both advisory and relationship management roles with a number of UK Banks.

Angela is experienced in both investment and financial planning and is looking forward to working with existing and new clients of the Practice. Outside of work Angela enjoys Detective and Who-donnit novels, and she is at ease switching from English to German as a fluent multi-linguist.



Tara Childs, Practice Manager

Tara joined the the Practice ten years ago after working as a PA in the Oil & Gas Industry.

Tara is a senior member of the team and manages the Practice's back office support systems, with responsibility for all areas of Business Operations.

Outside of work, socialising, travel and walking 'Elliot' the dog takes up a lot of free time. And yes, Tara is married to the boss, although he would say it's the other way around.



Alice Denton, Client Experience Manager

Alice joined the Practice in 2013 and is manager of the Client Experience Unit (CEU) with responsibility for all aspects of the Practice's bespoke Client Relationship Management programme. Alice oversees management and appointment making for the practice and is usually the first point of contact for new and existing clients. Outside of work, Alice enjoys reading, travelling and the theatre, which is not surprising as Alice has a BA honours degree in Drama, awarded by the Bishop Grosseteste University, Lincoln. Alice is also a seasoned traveller and clients may find she has a knowledge and enthusiasm for everything Asian, as she spent over five months travelling the continent from Delhi to Vietnam.



Isabella Johnson, Practice Consultant

Isabella joined the Practice in October 2014 and achieved a BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Business Administration.

In May 2016, Issie participated with the Practice Team to successfully complete their 35 mile Jurrasic coastline Big Walk charity fund raiser.

Outside of work, Issie is interested in all things equestrian, and is an accomplished horse rider.



Lottie Childs, Administration Consultant

Lottie joined the Practice in September 2016 from the creative technology industry having previously attained her Batchelor of Science degree in Games Technology.

Working with Issie, Lottie completed her first work experience at The Practice over 6 years ago.

Outside of work, Lottie's love of technology and games keeps her busy together with walking her pet dog, Chippy.
